  • Cards on the Table : End of Week 91

    Yes, I am still here folks, but it is the first time I have even logged on for 3 weeks.

    It has been a bad 3 weeks since last report. I had a week in the USA/Canada, where it was not safe to venture outdoors much of the time, with temperatures below -25C at times. Not amusing at all. This was followed by a week in bed mostly, after I got back home, having picked up some foul bug en route which laid me distinctly low. Pretty much over that now though. An inexplicable knee injury picked up while washing the car, of all things, has made exercise impossible, because I cannot put any weight on it lest it collapse. I also have a trapped nerve or summat in my neck which is causing varied degrees of numbness in my left hand on and off. I am a right physical wreck. :D

    Nothing wrong with my appetite though .. in fact it is pretty good, has taken over somewhat, and I confess to you now, with heavy heart and as nonchalantly as possible, that I have ballooned up to 178 lbs. No, I am not proud of this and it is a major setback; best part of a year in fact. Just have to start all over again.

    So that is where I am up to. I shall probably continue to report back here from time to time, not day to day as heretofore.

  • Repairing the Damage of Christmas : End of Week 88

    Weighed in at 174 lbs today, folks. So that is a pound off from last week and I am on my way back to where I have briefly reached before, but not there yet.

    Brief summary of yesterday (Friday) :

    Calories : 1939.

    Exercise : 50 mins bike ride with number 1 son. Another very cold sortie.

    Having made the mistake of rather rapidly gaining 5 lbs during December while supposedly on a diet, I have now started to redress the balance in favour of actual weight reduction. Might not last long though as I travel to Detroit tomorrow and will be in the clutches of various hotels and their kitchens for a while. I do try to keep to the spartan side of ample en route but you never quite know what you are eating, or, indeed, ordered necessarily.

    If I get a chance to blog, I will. But it is not one of my priorities. So you will all just have to be patient possibly pending my return next weekend or so. But I will be back in due course.

    Brief summary of yesterday (Thursday) :

    Calories : 1761. Could not very well refuse a portion of apple crumble when she had laboured and made it specially ..

    Exercise: 30 mins running over frozen ground. Not enjoyable.

    Brief summary of yesterday (Wednesday) :

    Calories : 1610.

    Exercise : 50 mins bike ride in morning followed by 1.5 hrs walk in afternoon. Very cold out.
